Hong Kong: Causeway Bay & The Peak

We checked out quite early on the third day. Hoping to catch a cab to our next hotel, I tried asking some  drivers but they refuse to drive across Victoria Harbour and so we opted for the MTR instead.

Causeway Bay (銅鑼灣), located in the southern island is more commonly known as Hong Kong itself. (Yes, it is indeed strange for me that they call Kowloon, Kowloon but Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.) Upon reaching the station, we took a cab from Times Square to the Charterhouse just in case it is too difficult to find ourselves. Well, apparently not.

We could not check in because it wasn't noon yet, so we decided to just go back to Times Square for more shopping after leaving our luggage at the hotel.

Making our way just down the road, we spotted a daily market.

They have delish-looking fruits! Somewhat of the combi of tropical and mediterranean selections, the fruits are sold by the old metric system of kati (which I believe is around 1 1/3 lb each).

Soon, we reached the perimeter of Times Square where I spotted Hui Lau Shan, a very much raved dessert shop.

Some mango dessert thing

This one tastes godly!! Has glutinous rice at the bottom. *slurp*

A few paces away lies the heart of Causeway Bay. Even at the entrance, we could see Lane Crowford, an upmarket retail.

They were having some kind of origami showcase. Very impressive.

The journey to the west crew and I.

After like a few hours in TS, we decided to move on to Sogo, which seem to be pretty nearby (according to my map :P). Just a little walk down two alleys, you can spot the building already.

The road was damn crowded!!! If you were to get $1 from each person crossing the street, you would be a millionaire in less than a month. You get the picture.

The whole place feels so....Japanese!~ I could spot Ozoc, Bread & Butter, Liz Lisa and so many other brands. Gotta love the quality. Of course some damage has to be done to my wallet here. Hehe..

My new found love is Ans, a brand for bags, watches, pouches and other accessories. The design is so cute and refined. I couldn't resist and bought a wristwatch (later at Venetian). ;P

Satisfied with our catch, we headed back to The Charterhouse for check-in. I have to say Mr.Sam who works there is very efficient and we got out tickets to The Peak and Disneyland from him! No need to queue. Awesome~~

This is the standard superior room. More spacious than the previous hotel but the furniture are abit older.

There is a minibar and safe. Heaps of touristic magazines can be found in the drawers. :D

Not long after we rest our feet, we took a cab to The Peak--which is about 10 mins away. At the entrance, I was shocked to see the long queue. Fortunately we can queue directly at the tram entrance because we have got the tickets (thanks, Mr. Sam!).

But that didn't mean we could board directly. Since only one tram is operating at a time, we had to wait for 3 rounds before getting on one!! And the crowd is pretty aggressive...urgh.

Look at the massive crowdation. >:(

But we got to look around at the exhibits while waiting. I can't believe the conductors in the olden days are faceless. O_O

The tickets- yesterday's and today's.

Office in the 70's.

So everyone was so kiasu when the tram arrived and chiong-ed like there are gold in it. Ew.

I ended up standing. And that wasn't an easy task because the tram went uphill and inclined like 50 degrees...

But I got to shoot lasers from my eyes at those who shove me earlier. Win win.

Ahhh finally!! Since I stood at the door, I was the first to alight.

Upon reaching the topmost level of the Peak Tower, I could hear some 'uhh' 'ahhs' of admiration. Guess I am not the only sakai around. :P

Thank goodness it was still early. There were some seats at the top for us.

While waiting for the sunset, sis and I left a message for the public. :P

Sunset!

To avoid the crowd (due to The Symphony of Lights every 8pm) we had to leave.

Mum was distracted with another agenda.

We had to wait (again) for like half an hour. T_T But it was worthwhile since we get to see the whole night view while descending back to the station. But unfortunately the tram went so fast all I get to capture is this neon mee goreng..

Back to the buzzing streets of Wan Chai, we managed to shop around before retiring for the day. When we finally reached our hotel, all of us was totally worn out. Madness!!
